I created this shoe box as the third entry into my conceptual Nike Collector Series. This box’s design is centered around simple geometry, pattern, and grid use. Like the other shoe boxes, I wanted the face’s design to be viewed almost as a vertical poster. I employed various common trends within Bauhaus-style posters using primary colors, off-white paper color, as well as a distinct Bauhaus typeface. Combining all of these elements culminate in a bold design that is strongly rooted within the visual style of the Bauhaus Art School.

The messaging on the packaging states “Focus Your Form, Find Your Function".” This is meant to both be a reference to the emphasis on function and form within the Bauhaus Art School, as well as act as an inspirational slogan that follows the flow of Nike’s established ethos.

The bottom of the box states:

This shoebox is an entry in my Nike “Art is Action” collector series. It is based on the German art school that operated from 1919-1933. This school unified fine arts with functional design and mass production, emphasizing simplistic geometry and minimalist design. The design I’ve created strives to create a sense of unity to create a high-quality feel while keeping to the school’s base principles.
